Rottweilers are extraordinary dogs, strong, powerful, extremely self-confident and strong willed. They are high-energy dogs that need a lot of exercise and they love to run and to swim.

Rottweilers are loyal, intelligent animals that can make devoted pets and awesome guard dogs. Correctly trained the Rottweiler can become a wonderful family companion. Rottweilers are naturally reserved and protective.

Rottweilers can be dangerous out of sheer size and muscle. Because of their strength and size, they can unintentionally hurt someone just by knocking a person or child over. Never leave a Rottweiler alone with a very young infant. Make sure your children are involved in your rottweiler’s training.

Bred to both drive and protect livestock, the breed originated in the German town of Rottweil back in the middle ages, and is descended from Mastiffs. They were used by the Romans to herd cattle and sheep needed to feed Roman armies as the Romans conquered Europe.

Rottweilers are found doing a variety of jobs, including tracking and herding, competitive obedience and police work. People will be rewarded by having a loyal, brave, and loving companion.

Rottweilers are big dogs in a medium-large body. They range from around 22” to 27” to the shoulder and generally weigh between 85 to 130 lbs.
