The Poodle is an agile, athletic, and graceful breed that was originally developed in Germany to be a water dog that retrieved game fowl. They are considered to be one of the most intuitive, attentive, and intelligent breeds.

Poodles have always been a favorite companion breed. The Poodle is a cheerful, super smart, sensitive and highly trainable. Almost anyone can teach a poodle to do tricks.

They are extremely smart, easy to train, very friendly and an affectionate companion dog. They adapt equally well to city or country life. They generally get along well with other dogs.

The Poodle's coat may be groomed into three basic styles: the "pet clip", with relatively short hair all over the body, the "English saddle" clip, and the "Continental" clip with the rear half of the body shaved, bracelets left around the ankles and pom-poms left on the tails and hips. The classic poodle haircut now seen in the show ring was designed to allow the dog to swim freely while protecting vital organs and joints from the cold water.

People suffering from allergies particularly like this breed. They technically don’t shed or have dander and are considered hypo-allergenic because they have hair rather than fur.
