The German Pinscher, also called the Standard Pinscher, is a medium-sized, tall terrier with a strong, smooth, glossy coat that comes in red fawn, black & tan, and dark brown with yellow markings. Black with tan markings is the most common.

The German Pinscher originated in Germany and is included in the origins of the Doberman, Miniature Pinscher and other Pinscher types.

German Pinschers are very loyal, alert, and playful.The German Pinscher can be an ideal companion dog. A good watchdog as it is suspicious of strangers and will bark an alarm. Even so, not a barker. Gets along well with other dogs and people, clean as a cat, and has almost no body odor. German Pinshers have a sense of humor, are brave, not squeamish, and have considerable stamina.

The normal height is 16-19 inches with a weight of 25-35 pounds.
