The French Bulldog is a pleasant, easy care companion. A very playful and sweet affectionate dog that loves to clown around. Bright, curious, easygoing and alert, the French Bulldog gets along fairly well with strangers and other animals.

French Bulldogs are a compact, muscular dog with a smooth coat, snub nose and solid bone structure. Their physical appearance is characterized by naturally occurring 'bat ears' that are wide at the base and rounded on the top. Their tails are naturally short, not cropped, straight or screwed but not curly.

While theories abound about the the exact origin of the French Bulldog, the most prevalent opinion is that around the mid 1800's Normandy lace workers from England took smaller bulldogs with them when they sought work in France.

French Bulldogs require lots of company, plenty of exercise and preferably some relaxing time. If you require a dog just to live quietly in the yard and sleep on the door step, this is not the dog for you.

The normal height is 12 inches and weigh 19 to 28 pounds.
