The Bichon Frise is a small, sturdy, white powder puff of a dog whose merry temperament is evidenced by his plumed tail carried jauntily over the back. This charming puffball has soft, dark eyes that are round, black or dark brown and are set in the skull to look directly forward giving an inquistive expression.
They are alert, very intelligent and generally have happy dispositions. They are a non-shedding breed that requires regular grooming.
Many Bichons do not do well when left alone for long periods of time on a daily basis. They can suffer from separation anxiety, which can lead to depression, destructive behavior, personality changes, fear, excessive barking, and housebreaking problems.
Bichons are an in your face breed. They want to be with you, and when you are in the house they will follow you everywhere, they want to be on your lap or snuggled next to you when you are sitting down. Gentle mannered, sensitive, playful and affectionate. A cheerful attitude is the hallmark of the breed and one should settle for nothing less.
The normal height is 9-12 inches, and weight is 7-12 pounds. |
